It is also an interesting little factoid that half of the people that you see at such events do not work for the fair, they are average everyday people dressed up in renaissance and medieval costume to celebrate and take part in the ambiance of the era.

There are few times in history that mirror the dynamic era of the Renaissance. Actually, none equal this explosive time in creative discovery and social change. The middle ages are ripe with great costume potential. A medieval costume ranges from a daring knight, mystical wizard, simple servant girl, and not to forget the regal King and Queen.

This was a time of incredible political, cultural and economic change. Clothing was a reflection of your station in society. Then you have the Renaissance Era, which overlaps part of the late Middle Ages when, again, there was great change taking place in art and science. Are you ever at a loss as to what to buy the man in your life? I know that for me coming up with ideas through the years is getting tougher. My husband loves to do many activities. He is a hunter, fisherman and golfer. I love cashmere for myself and thought maybe he would like it also. The clerk told me that a men's cashmere sweater is always a great gift because many times men will not try one on due to the price, but once they own one they will readily buy another because they feel so nice on the skin and also wear very well. He suggested getting the style that has a mock turtleneck because they are so versatile they could be worn by themselves or under a sports coat. My husband has a black tweed sports coat so I bought a men's cashmere sweater in black. The sweater was expensive, but the store was having a sale that day so it was in the price range that I usually spend for a birthday gift. I was somewhat nervous about the gift because I had never given him clothing before.

On the day of his birthday I came home from work early to make his favorite dinner. He prefers to eat at home rather than going to a restaurant. In a way I find this quite amusing. We are not going to say to Uncle Fred that his long nose hairs are disturbing, but we are going to wrap up a nose hair clipper and give it to him as a gift. I have a friend that is a person care attendant in a facility for the aging. She has a very easy going manner and most of the elderly people she works with look forward to her pleasant smile and personality. She is very matter of fact with the elderly about getting rid of unwanted hairs. She has a tweezers, nose hair clipper and neck hair trimmer in her supply bag at all times. She will tell the women if they have facial hair and she will help them pluck them out. She will show the men how to use the nose hair trimmer and if they are too poor sighted or unsteady with their hands she will do it for them. She laughs that her goal is to rid the world of unwanted facial hair one person at a time. She said that most of the residents that she works with are grateful to her for pointing this out to them. She said for most of them once she has mentioned something they will ask her if the hairs are back. How To Care For Your Leather Clothing

Leather has been used by mankind since the beginnings of clothing, and it has remained popular through the years because of it's durability and functionality. Leather is a living breathing fabric, and requires special care.

This means you should not leave your leather garments in a plastic garment bag! It can't breathe, and will cause the leather to dry out. Opt for a cloth cover instead.

It is not recommended that you Iron your leather clothing, however, if you feel you must, then special care should be taken. Use the iron at the lowest possible setting, do not use steam, and move the iron quickly across the garment. An insert (like a paper bag) between the iron and the garment is a good idea too.

Professional leather cleaning is recommended for all leathers, and fabric garments trimmed with leather. Normal dry cleaning methods will not yield proper results. Clean matching garments at the same time, since a slight variation is color or texture may occur as a natural result of the cleaning process. Natural marks and wrinkles could become more apparent after cleaning. Garment may shrink slightly, but will stretch again with wear. Professionally applied water and stain repellent products are often available.

If you take good care of your leather, it will last longer than you do.
