A Genuine Confession of a Shopaholic

By Kitty G Kat

I saw Confessions of a Shopaholic on Friday the 13th. The movie was definitely predictable and a bit depressing, but it was also a cute girlie movie.

How many of us have gotten ourselves into a bind with our credit cards? I believe it is possible and also to have creditors calling. But I must admit it has to do with todays standard of living and not living like Rebecca Bloomwood. Yes, it would be nice to wear designer clothing like Gucci, Prada or Louis Vuitton, but the average Jill (female version of the average Joe) doesn't purchase those brands..more like DKNY, Guess?, Nine West to name a few. Don't get me wrong these clothes can also take a bite out of your Dooney & Bourke Suede Foldover Clutch. Trust me, I know.

No Denying it...I do like to shop and maybe you can call me a shopaholic. It's a must to have one or two new pieces of the latest fashion trends to mix up with last years clothes. Luckily, a lot of last summers styles are still in for this year too.

Just the other day I went to my local TJ Maxx to look for some torn, acid wash skinny jeans that I read about online. The only jeans closely resembling what I had in mind were some wide leg jeans with a few tears here and there. I really didn't expect TJ's to have them, but I still managed to purchase a few other items. I found a silk skirt that was originally priced $188.00 down to $35.00, two knit tops; one to go with a sweater I had bought a couple weeks earlier for $5.00 and the other to go with the skirt for $13.00. Then of course the last minute I saw a green and white stripped jacket and top perfect for St Pats Day by Jones of New York sticker price (sounds like a car) $114.00 discounted to $55.00. Another reason I went shopping in the first place, I had a coupon for $10.00 off..oh they know how to get me...so all in all my shopping experience minus my jeans cost $100.00...a bargain.

Now I know I didn't need any of that stuff and to top it off I maxed my TJ Maxx card, bummer. A lot of the time it is the anticipation, just like anything else that gives us the high about shopping. Does it replace something else missing in our lives? Does it make us feel better to turn heads and make other Jills envious? I don't know.

Keeping up with the Jills can stretch our budgets to the max. Luckily, because of the economy the stores are having great sales. So even if we have to have something new to spice up our wardrobe we can find some great deals or maybe like in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic we can find a rich man.

PS. Now I just hope that eBay doesn't sell the wardrobe from the movie, cause that would be bad:(
