Know More About Nylon Body Stocking

By Robert Ratcliff

A large number of designer collections exist for body hosiery and they include leopard body tights, patterned bodytights, fishnet bodytights, lace bodytights and Lurex bodytights. All you need to do is to make a choice of color and size which best suits your taste. Stockings are one of the earliest important inventions which were made not only in the manufacturing technology arena but also in textile designs.

For example this advancement has been seen during the 2nd World War whereby silk was replaced by nylon as parachute material. This collection was through the innovation in textile design from the use of natural materials to synthetic fibers and the outcome that had on design. These stocking provided an overview into social, fashion and in some cases cultural customs of the diverse periods being represented.

Advance in technology was witnessed during Queen Elizabeth's rein in which the first ever stocking making machine was invented by one William Lee in a province called Nottingham in England during the late 16th century. During the 1960s a large number of the stockings were knitted by hand but between 1650 and 1750, the stocking frame was then introduced. But these early machine were found to be clumsy and very expensive to maintain and operate.

They also produce less finished products but as at 1760s, there were many improvement introduced to the original design which lead to manufacture of fine fabric and machine-made lace. By the mid 1800, improvements in technology ensured more output at less cost of products thereby making this machine-made stocking more affordable in a mass market. By the 1880s, a fully automated machine was introduced which manufactured stockings which were like a complete tube full with a heel and stocking feet.

Improvements in color and decorations were not introduced until the 17th century during which stocking were given more decorations. There were not many people who used to wear body stocking in those days and most men and women used to wear shoes instead of boots and some clock seams. It is during this time that the decorated clocks became fashionable. The color of stockings was more influenced by social settings of such times.

In the 1730s, there was a shift in fashion, people shifted to wearing white-colored stockings. Previously, stockings manufactured from wool, linen or cotton. But the most desired stockings during this period were those made from silk but tended to be expensive and many people could not afford it. Nylon, originally known as polymer 6.6 was invented by DuPont in the 1930s and saw it replace silk due to it being cheaper. Today, several stocking collection have diamond-shaped holes in the welting and are cheap.
