Why Body Shape Matters When Buying Your Wedding Dress

By Mae Summerville

Getting the correct style of dress for your body is critical as you will be photographed more that day than you are ever likely to be photographed again. The selection of the best dress for you to wear depends tremendously on your body type. I will give you some tips on choosing the correct dress for your body style.

* For the plus size female who has a lot of curves selecting a dress that shows off her hourglass figure would be the best choice. The best selection for a bride with this sort of figure would be a fit-and-flare trumpet dress.

* For those women with a small cup size you have the luxury of going a little more daring in the selection of your dress. I would reccomend something low like a scoop neck gown. To further accentuate it you can do some sort of lace across the top.

* An empire frame dress is the best choice if you have a pear shaped body. That is because it is similar in that is has an "A' frame type of construction. Use organza to lessen the "A" line shape.

* If you are petite you will want to consider going with something like a "mermaid" style of dress. Most petite women have always tried to select clothing that will make them appear larger than they really are and on your wedding day you most certainly will want to stand out.

* For the woman who has large arms you may want to look at something that will diminish their prominence. A dress with short sleeves will accomplish that nicely.

* A pleated wedding dress is usually the best choice for the bride who is interested in hiding their stomachs. This helps to give the illusion of a straight up and down symmetry.

* If you have "child-bearing" hips you may want a dress that minimizes their effect on your overall look. Check out a pleated wedding dress. This will make it look like your body shape is just part of the design of the dress.

Just selecting the dress "architecture" will be but one part of all the decisions you will make when you are creating your overall look on your wedding day. You still have to determine things like the accessories you will be wearing, the style of those, the finishes, etc. It will be well worth all the trouble in the end.
