Nursing Bras Basics and Their Types

By Hispanic

If you are breastfeeding or nursing your baby, you may want to use a nursing bra. They may have the same look and style but they also have other additional features.

Nursing bras have various types and the type that you choose depends greatly on your preferences. What may be advantageous and comfortable for another nursing mother may not be so for you, which is why it is best to take your time shopping for nursing bras.

The following are some of the basic types of nursing bras:

Nursing bras with flaps - If you want to detach the area that covers your breasts without having to unlock your bra, then this type is for you. You can use even just one hand to clasp and unclasp the flaps. The connection of the flaps may either be at the top of the bra cups or between the two cups.

Nursing bras without flaps - A softer fabric is used in nursing bras with flaps. This soft fabric allows you to pull aside your nursing bra with ease. The fabric is also beneficial as it is comfortable and safe to sleep in. This type is relatively cheaper compared to those with flaps although it has a drawback too as it offers less support to your breasts.

Nursing bras with underwire - It is more expensive than the others in this list but it is definitely worth it since it offers better support. You may feel uncomfortable though because of the restrictions the underwire may bring. Make sure to remove this bra before going to bed.

Nursing bras without underwire - Larger breasts need bras that can offer better support. If comfort is what you are looking for then this type id suited for you.

There are many different styles and types for everyone. Some combine all the different styles mentioned above. The important thing is that you choose something that will match you and your baby's needs.
