Secrets of Buying a Tuxedo

By Victor Santerino

Figuring out how to buy a tuxedo can be quite troublesome. The buyer has to decide on a style, a color, and even accessories. This article was written to try and give the reader some quick and easy tips to make the process a little smoother.

The first thing you must absolutely do before buying a tux, is to get measured. Measurements should be taken the same way they are taken for a regular suit. Use a cloth measuring tape to measure the diameter of your neck, chest, and waist. Following this measure your inseam to get the length of your pants.

Finding out what a normal tuxedo looks like for your particular event should be the next area of concern. For instance a prom tuxedo in a unique color might be great for the prom but a little too informal for a black tie event.

When choosing a color you will need to not only look at the event you are attending, but your skin complexion as well. People with darker skin should wear colors that highlight their skin color, while people with fair skin should do just the opposite.

There are so many designers on the market that choosing just one can be quite difficult. If you have a favorite suit designer, it is usually safe to choose a tuxedo made by the same company. However, as always make sure you browse through a few models before making your final choice.

Another area to consider before buying a tuxedo is the type of accessories you will need. Remember that you will need studs, cuff links, a shirt, a bowtie, and a pair of tuxedo shoes. The inexperienced buyer should probably but a tuxedo package that already has everything they need in it.

Finding a place to actually purchase your tux can be troubling for those living in more rural areas. If you don't have any stores in the area to buy your tux then try taking a trip to your local rental place to try a few on. Following this you can jump online and make your purchase from there. Many times it is better to buy online anyway because you will save a large amount of money.

Always remember that you always have the final say in what tuxedo you purchase. You will be the only one wearing your tux and you should feel both comfortable and stylish while wearing it.
