An Overview of Styles for Women's Underwear

By Tiffany Hart

When it comes to a woman's undergarments, there is often a natural conflict between comfort and sensuality. Although many brands have claimed to incorporate both, few seem to have actually made the grade.

When picking panties, we tend to go in one of two directions. The first is to go for something sexy. The second is to go for something comfortable and practical. Oddly, the two are rarely put together in most bottoms.

As you already know, there are a number of different styles of panties and bottoms on the market. Most women, however, aren't fully aware of just how much variety there really is. Well, we aim to cure that problem, so here are some different styles.

Every structure must have a foundation. When it comes to women's underwear, the full brief is definitely that foundation. The design maximizes support through coverage. These briefs are very practical, but not the most appealing visually.

The second foundation pillar in the bottoms arsenal is the bikini bottom. No, not the bathing suit. We are talking about a bottom that is more delicate, yet very comfortable. It can be modified to be sexier by going with string over hip versions.

The hot look these days for many women is to show that midriff and the upper hips. This means low, low, low cut jeans. Most panties ride to high for this look, so you'll need to stick with the hipster bottoms that offer lower support but have lowered waistlines.

How low can you go? These days, the low cut of jeans is making many wonder about the answer. You need bottoms, but don't want them to show. Hipsters are the answer. These bottoms provide you with support, and a low cut waist that hides them below the cut of the jeans.

When it comes to conveying a sexy look, the thong simply can't be beat. Men go nuts for them. Comfort, however, is an issue. Some women have no problem wearing them while others find the bunched up feeling a bit too much.

At the end of the day, what you wear can have a big impact on you. Try every style at least once to figure out what you like and then focus on your favorites. Still, always keep one of each type around in case you need it for a special occasion.
