Colored Toric Lenses - Stop Astigmatism With Colored Toric Lenses

By Mike Rigby

If you suffer from astigmatism and thought that you were doomed to wearing boring old glasses for the rest of your life, then you probably have not been introduced to toric contact lenses. Toric contacts are made to fit precisely on your eyes and therefore reducing the blurred vision that you would normally get from wearing normal contacts. Today however, you can even change the color of your eyes with colored toric contacts. These lenses are made from the same material as normal lenses and come either in soft or rigid gas permeable type. The colors available range from blue to violet and any shades in between that you can think of. If you would like to add a little spice to your Halloween costume this year, don't let astigmatism stop you. In fact you can get colored toric lenses that look like cats' eyes or any monster like creature that you can think of to make you look your scary best.

Choice Of Lenses

There are two kinds of colored toric lenses. Some that have to be removed every day before you go to bed and will last you around a year as long as you keep up with the cleaning routine and those that you can wear for around a week without removing them from your eyes. At the end of the seven day period, they are usually tossed out and a new pair worn. Their life can be prolonged to around two weeks if you are willing to go through the clean and store routine on a daily basis.

Colors

You can find colored toric lenses in just about any color but just in case you cannot find one that meets your taste, you can have your lenses custom made. However judging by the price of normal lenses which retail around the $120.00 mark, you can expect to pay quite a deal more for custom made lenses.

Ask Your Eye Doctor

If you are interested in purchasing colored toric lenses, you should contact your eye doctor prior to doing so. You must also take note that toric colored contacts will be quite a bit more expensive than normal toric lenses and that colored lenses might not be suitable for your eyes after all. However paying a visit to your eye specialist should put your mind completely at rest and will be well worth your time.

Where To Find Colored Toric Lenses

If you already have your prescription, then buying colored toric lenses can be done on the Internet. Just browse online and you should find a merchant in no time at all. The waiting period can range from 2 to 4 weeks so order them early if you want your lenses for a special occasion.

Are Colored Toric lenses Dangerous?

If you have been wearing toric lenses or a while now, then you should not have any problems with the colored kind. However if this is your first time wearing contact lenses, you must follow these basic steps to ensure that your lenses last a long time but more importantly stay away from eye infections. First, you should never touch or try to remove your contacts before washing your hands. Always use fresh solution when storing and washing your lenses. Try to maximize their use to no more than 10 hours. Follow this simple cleaning and storing regime and you will enjoy clear and hassle free vision for years to come.
