The Pet Tuxedo Phenomenon

By Victor Santerino

The fact that many people throughout the country feel that their pets are "part of the family", becomes quite obvious when they put them in clothes. Events such as Halloween, Christmas, and even weddings are times when people dress their dogs and cats.

Although many costumes have been created for dogs and cats, the tuxedo still remains the most popular. Pet tuxedos help attendees accept the dog or cat in the ceremony, when otherwise they might not.

The cat tuxedo is not seen nearly as often as its antithesis. However, you will see some cat lovers dressing up their cats and placing them near the alter during wedding ceremonies.

The cat is much better at keeping the tuxedo on their backs in comparison to the dog. Cats do not tear and pull at collars or clothing nearly as often or ferociously as dogs. You can be sure that you will not have to chase your cat around the alter to keep the tux in place.

The cat does have a problem that most dogs do not have to worry about. This problem is in the form of the small stature of a cat. The cat cannot make the kind of display that a dog can achieve.

Placing a dog tuxedo on your dog is the most common practice you can do in terms of dressing up your pet. These animals have been used in weddings as ring bearers for quite some time now.

Dogs have a great advantage over cats when it comes to maintaining a full figured costume. These animals are usually larger and thicker than standard house cats and can hold an elegant tuxedo with ease.

Dog owners have the disadvantage in tuxedo costumes in the area of keeping the tuxedo on the animal. Dogs need to be trained carefully not to disturb the costume as they tend to pull foreign objects off of themselves.

Use this information the next time you participate in a black tie affair, you might find that you want to dress your pet up! As always, thanks for reading.
