Design a Wedding Ring You'll Love Forever

By Geraldine Dimarco

Wedding rings are the seal of a marriage and as far as a couple is concerned, the most important aspect to get right; unlike so many other wedding items that need to be arranged, this is one area that belongs solely to the couple. Take as much the time as needed to consider which will be chosen. Find rings that symbolize your commitment to each other in the years to come. The location of your nearest jeweler who stocks wedding rings could be found on the Internet; whilst a shopping mall may be the favored destination it is unlikely this is the best place to try.

If you are lucky you might find enough variety but these stores often only carry a small selection of rings. It is in your best interest to find a jeweler that specializes so you will have enough styles and materials to choose from. Of course it should go without saying that the wedding ring you choose must complement the engagement ring that your partner is wearing.

Couples should not purchase wedding rings that overpower the engagement ring as these rings are meant to be understated; some rings have been made to complement each other and these should be the type you seek. To achieve this, the easiest method is to place both the wedding band and engagement ring side by side and if it is not possible to try the ring on.

Metals most often used are White Gold, Yellow Gold and Titanium. Recently however, platinum has become the metal of choice because of its durability. Silver wedding rings are also occasionally seen. Choosing a ring that is made of durable material is especially important for the groom's ring and platinum is an ideal choice. Traditionally, men are more likely to cause damage to a ring; they are the ones who will have the most marks and damage if examined.

Finding rings of your choice that fit rarely happens so make sure you have your wedding ring fingers professionally measured; the importance of getting them professionally resized is something that cannot be underestimated. You want to be sure the ring will fit correctly. This will prevent it from being too tight or too loose and slipping off.

Give yourself a couple of months to choose the rings and have them adjusted. This ensures you will not be in a panic a few days before the wedding day, waiting for the adjustments to be completed. Choosing wedding bands you will both like and that match the engagement ring may take some time. Allow for this as it is not uncommon for couples to choose in haste and then regret their decision later.

The most important thing to remember is your wedding rings are a symbol of your everlasting love, and that wherever you go around the world, the ring will instantly tell a person of your status.
