Diamond watches - A perfect engagement gift for the one you love.

By Neil J. Daniel

Like it happens in many parts of the world, a Spanish woman would usually receive a diamond-studded engagement ring when she accepts a marriage proposal. These are very attractive looking but diamond watches for men and women can also be gifted which are useful too. There are usually some top ranking names of the industry behind the making of such high-demand pieces and jewelers would normally major in the various types of this jewelry.

Tacori, for example is a designer known for its diamond jewelry meant for weddings and mixes the classical and modern styles with deftness. For some of the most colorful and exotic pieces depend on Hildago creations whereas engagement rings from the 130-year old company Christian Bauer are available from select outlets and their diamond jewelry is made only to order.

As you might imagine, not all diamonds for sale wind up being mounted in these exquisite pieces but only the best certified examples, carefully graded for clarity and color, are selected.

Diamond watches are one type of jewelry that is appreciated and worn by men and women. In fact, the first wristwatches were actually diamond bracelets that had a small timepiece mounted.

One saw the first of its kind when Earl of Leicester gifted one to Queen Elizabeth which was a cute round clock adorned with impeccable diamonds and which kept on dangling from a wristband. Perhaps this was the first authentic diamond timepiece meant for use by the ladies.

Wristwatches were treated as womanly by men who only sported pocket watches till First World War. It was actually the invention of the airplane that led to the development of the first men's wristwatch. This was the case as during the initial years of the aircraft, the pilot had to use both his hands for controlling since fuel gauges were absent. Therefore a need emerged whereby a timepiece was necessary which would allow the pilot to track his range and check the fuel load and which would not necessitate removing his hands from the control, just to reach out for his pocket watch.

Interestingly, the large-scale acclaim of diamond engagement rings happened at the same time when wrist watches for men hit the popularity charts. Today, the three best-known manufacturers of diamond watches are Cartier of France, Citizens of Japan, and Movado of Switzerland.

The last one is the company whose product is referred to when someone says that something "runs like a Swiss watch". Movado who has been engaged in this business now over a century has on offer over 200 varieties of diamond watches to choose from, each distinctly different from the other.
